Home arrow Vision Ezinearrow December 2006arrow Clients Get Fresh with Entrepreneur

By advising you to make time for celebrating your successes, even amidst juggling business, family, and holiday bustle, you probably feel like decking my halls. But part of business educator T. Harv Eker’s Wealth Conditioning Program is to celebrate five successes per day. And as an entrepreneurial multimillionaire who teaches other people his success tactics, you might just want to listen to him.

Keeping a daily journal of successes makes me acknowledge successes that would otherwise go unnoticed, eager to accomplish more, and generally optimistic. Landing a new client, exercising my mind and body, or cooking a meal for my family, all became noteworthy successes in my goal to live a balanced life. I found a similar celebratory mindset in Glenn Regnier, the 32 year-old owner of All-Fresh Carpet, Upholstery and Duct Cleaning.

Although Glenn just opened All-Fresh on July 1, the planning, preparation, and business plan development have given him a full year to reflect on. “This process made me realize how robotic typical financial institutions are,” says Glenn. “The feeling of wanting to help you isn’t there. But TACC felt like family, and they go out of their way to help you succeed, create opportunities, and make them available to you. Dealing with TACC was a terrific experience for me, and would be for other aboriginal entrepreneurs!”

With his preparation completed and financing from TACC secured, Glenn jumped right in with both feet. “The business launch was a huge step for me,” Glenn says. “It made me jump out of my comfort zone, which is a real accomplishment for someone who doesn’t like change! Also, I spent three years working for someone else who charged high prices, and I had to lose that mentality.”

Glenn measured his experience working for a national cleaning company against his entrepreneurial dream, enhancing what worked for the corporation and removing or improving what didn’t. “Poor management led to a lot of people leaving the company,” says Glenn. “But it was a positive learning experience, because I saw what needed fixing to go from a company with 50 trucks to a company with one. This is a personalized business, unfortunately with more bad cleaners than good. But if you’re good, they’ll keep you. People are inviting you into their homes, and I believe clients respect a caring owner/operator with the right experience, equipment, and prices.”

All-Fresh doesn’t just talk a caring talk; they follow through for their customers. “My wife, Jennifer, calls every client to ensure their satisfaction,” says Glenn. “And she deals person-to-person with potential clients at our advertising booth. We also offer a money back guarantee, because we’re all about service.”

Glenn has also learned that good fortune in an entrepreneur’s trial and error process is a significant blessing. “I spent money in the right places,” he says, celebrating another success. Glenn emulated his former employer’s method of advertising, and experimented with others of his own design. “July and August were rough, but after finding what marketing and promotions work for me, I’ve had an unbelievable response!”

Experience prepares Glenn for the commercial and financial peak and valley of the holiday season, freeing him to revel in some well deserved family time. “The first half of December will be really busy, the second half slow, but there are always those last minute bookings,” Glenn says. “January is also a slow month, but that opens a window for me to focus on duct cleaning. I’m going to scoop up as much business as possible, prepare for the lull, and tone it down over Christmas. I’ll relax, enjoy, and be more of a father than I have been lately!” Emphasizing family time is a goal and achievement for any busy entrepreneur to celebrate.

The New Year goals Glenn has set for All-Fresh are clear, concise, and attainable. “Consistent phone calls to get this truck really busy will be a good start,” says Glenn, determined to maximize efficiency. “I have high expectations and can achieve more with what I have right now. After accomplishing that, I’ll consider training someone and getting another truck on the road.”

A new year means new beginnings – trying new approaches, starting new ventures, transforming the mundane into the monumental - and Glenn offers this advice for every new and existing entrepreneur: “Read The E Myth! It’s worth thousands of dollars to you!” And, of course, remember to celebrate your success!

Happy Holidays, And All The Best In 2007!
