Spring Cleaning

Think twice before you buy
By Eyoälha Baker, Owner - Urban Remix Interior Arrangement Specialists

After a long, rainy Vancouver winter watching home improvement shows, people are starting to get the urge to make some major changes in their homes and lives.

Our lives are a direct reflection of our home and vice versa, when our homes become cluttered, the energy becomes stagnant, and the feeling begins to manifest in our everyday lives. We can start to feel overwhelmed when we come home after a long work week instead of welcomed and relaxed. People often start to think that the solution is to buy something new to perk up their home, but in reality, what’s needed is less, notnew. De-cluttering re-organizing and re-arranging can clear your space and your mind to get the energy moving again and can refresh the look of your rooms.

Of course, finding the time, creativity and the inspiration to come up with a brand new look with our own things may seem like a daunting task, and not as gratifying as buying something new. But with an objective eye and a little creativity you would be amazed at the results that can be achieved.  So not surprisingly, the latest trend in home improvement is not about consuming more but simply reviving and editing what you already have. The Redesign approach, also known as Interior Arrangement, is not exactly a new concept, but has recently become a popular alternative to the often costly interior design approach. Most of us already have some really beautiful things that we love, they just need an objective, professional eye to display and arrange them in a fresh new way. Take a look at the following before and after photos. Nothing new was bought for either room, but the changes have created a beautiful, fresh, open and inviting feel to the room. So think twice before you buy because maybe you just need a little remix of your most beloved things to breathe new life into your environment.
